Inauguration of Renovated M Block

Swami Dayananda College of Arts & Science has a five year plan and an effective policy in place in order to create and enhance the infrastructure that facilitates effective teaching and learning. The campus expansion project, that we embarked on in 2020, is in line with the NAAC requirement.

We invited the Directors from the Lucas group of companies to inaugurate the renovated M Block earlier this month. Measuring 16, 760 sq. ft, the renovated block now has an additional 24 classrooms, a lab, library, conference hall and exam rooms. In the next academic year (2023), we will now be able to accommodate an additional 1200 students on campus.
The Lucas group of companies, Delphi-TVS Technologies Limited, Lucas TVS, India Nippon Electricals Limited and Lucas Indian Service, have been consistently supporting Swami Dayananda Educational Trust for 20 years. They’ve walked with us each step of the way, and guided us.

“We had a very educative time. My colleagues on the Board of Lucas TVS and Delphi TVS were very impressed to see the state of art facilities, labs , classrooms and above all a dedicated team of teachers ably led by your good selves and Sheela. The interaction with students indicated the skills and confidence imparted to them. The holistic development of learning in an vibrant cultural environment is indeed an unique feature of SDET. Generations of students will be benefitted and soon it will be a benchmark for others. I look forward to the continued journey of SDET institutions to reach world class standards” said, Mr.T.K. Balaji, Chairman and Managing Director,Lucas-TVS Limited and Delphi-TVS Technologies Limited.

After the inauguration and campus tour, the guests planted Palasa and Rudraksha saplings. Both trees are considered very sacred in the Indian culture.

The village of Manjakkudi earned one more feather in its cap – with its inauguration of the Swami Dayananda Centre for Learning by Carnatic musician Padma Shri Bombay Jayashri Ramnath.

The genesis of this project goes back to 2019, when a fundraiser was begun with the help of Smt. Jayashri Ramnath to build a space for the performing arts and sciences. SDET partnered with fundraising platform Milaap to raise the required. In a heartwarming gesture, Jayashriji released her title track from her album ‘Moon Child’ for the cause.
